Taiwan Teachers give korfball show
The University, NTUE in Taipei, where Mr. Inglish Huang is working as a professor, is celebrating a great disco night.
Korfball players /students of this university, gave a show where korfball is in the centre.
It is a great idea this show. "A choreography around the korf".
In other countries they can imitate such a show?
May be this is a possiblity to raise money? So that everybody who is selected as a player can come to WC 2011 in Shaoxing.
May be every country can show their own choreographic dance around the korf as a side event during WC?

Korfball in Brazil
I just received an email from Marcelo who organizes korfball activities in Brazil:

Hi Ben,
Here I am again with some feedback on the 2-2 street korfball. I noticed that the players were not focused enough on scoring, they were just passing the ball around, and made no real attacking movements.
That is why I made a new rule for them: they have to make 4 passes before scoring when they get the ball, but they are not allowed to make more than 7 passes before they make a shot. If after the 7th pass they make no shot (or a shot that doesn't touch the korf) they lose the ball.
In this way they were motivated to shoot from the smallest possible chances, and to agree with each other that the other goes immediately for the rebound when he/she sees that his/her teammate can shoot.
In this way we had a fast, action-packed game again.

Hi Bandor,
We play this game without the rule of defense; the players are only allowed to obstruct a shot. This rule can make the game tricky while it will help to increase the players ball handling skills. I think that the 4 passes before being allowed to score can be reduced to 2 passes. But this choice also depends on the skill of the players.

Tactic:
The attacking Players must play with the pole between them. The pole is in the center. This will make it less easy to intercept the ball when the players have also defend 1-1. The players will be forced to take risks and I think that taking risks belongs to this funny game. The game is an excellent tool to learn to balance between risk and control.

2 against 2 Street korfball
Dear Ben,
yesterday at the training we tried Your 2 on 2 Street Korfball. It was big fun, we have enjoyed it a lot.
The reason why I like it is that
1. 4 people is enough to play a game
2. players always have to work hard, otherwise playing is almost impossible
3. it makes players focused on scoring very much
4. it emphasizes the importance of the attacking moves and good passing
5. it is a very fast game with a lot of actions - when the opponent gets the ball, the action starts again immediately (the 4 passes can be made very fast)
6. it is tiring - good for the stamina
7. players have to get rid of their old thinking patterns that they learned in "normal" korfball - they have to adapt their thinking to the new situation
+1. and it is fun :)

You are right by the summary of the strong points. But there is more:
We (PKC) play 2 against 2 very often:
1. Important for korfball skill.
2. Tempo of passing is lower than the tempo of running.
3. Players are more focussed on making goals than on control of ball possession. So they have to take (small) risks.
4. There are two patterns:
a. the post is centred so the defender should take risk to stay in 1-1 and see the ball;
b. One of the attackers wants to come to the wolf position and assist the Tiger.
Friday afternoon I will come to EC in Herenthals!
