Can you suggest some ways of playing with the shot clock - we were training it before the eurobowl but have never used it in competition?
The best way to coop with the shotclock is to train the match form: 4 against 4 in one section. So the "match like situation".
When players do this regularly they get "the feeling of 25 seconds in their body". During this training the clock is on!
I think you have to prepare the attack with some lines about the organisation of the attack:
1. Who is the Tiger; the Bear; the Wolf and the Panther, during the building up of the attack. This means that there is a preference of roles in the organisation of the attack.
2. Coach a simple way of building up with not too many passes.
3. Use the the whole area of the attack section. So bring the ball to the back line.
4. Attackers try to center their positions to the post so that the defenders are positioned with their back to the post
5. Bulding up of the attack should be done in about 9 seconds. When the clock shows 16 seconds the attack should be ready for the first shot.
6. The Tiger should be ready for make this first shot; the Bear is ready for the rebound; The Wolf should be in an assist position and the Panther should be ready to take over the role of the Tiger.
7. When the first shot missed the korf around 16, the attack can build up the organisation again. The second shot should be done around 10! During this time there is an opportunity to rotate the roles. How to rotate roles is the plan of the coach.
8. When the clock is around 5, most defenders should change the process of their defence. They will give pressure to the attackers by a strict 1 : 1. The attackers should go for any shot which is possible in these moments. It is really urgent to get a shot on the korf.
