it must have been a very interesting meeting, and thanks for sharing your ideas.
It is inspiring to read them.
I wish I was there to discuss these issues because there are some in which MKBA (Hungarian Korfball Academy) has also some ideas.
Just to mention a few:Besides to the street korfball mentioned by you we use another, 4 by 4 street korfball in our Korfball Cells and company events, and it works great.
It is an "entry-level" korfball for new players: mostly monokorfball, but there is no defended rule, only a circle around the post (2,5 m radius), from which players are not allowed to score. And also, some other rules are skipped too, so we made it as easy to understand as possible, but still we managed to keep the spirit of korfball.
Probably that is also an idea to discuss.
I agree with you 100% (or more) on the use of modern media. We have to speak the language of our target audience. So Twitter, Facebook, Youtube - or, why not create a KorfballTube with tons of videos, uploaded by all the korfball palyers in the world?
I also agree with you that korfball events have to be much more than just matches. One of the speciality of korfball is its strong social aspect - we should use it much more at the events, and also, to create an atmosphere that is impossible to resist - spectators have to fall in love with korfball at first sight. And it is much easier if there are more than just matches.Well, there are more, but even now it is a long comment.
We at MKBA are always happy to discuss our ideas with anybody interested! And I promise, we have some ideas, like the one that makes it possible to play korfball in a pub! How is it possible? We will reveal the secret in Herentals!
Ben, again thank you for the post, and let's keep on talking about these issues for the benefit of korfball.Bandor
