Do we really wish that the free pass in korfball works as the penalty corner in (field) hockey?

NO!

So, how can we solve this problem?

Proposal:

The free pass is taken from a spot on the top of the oval, 5 m. from the post (as seen from the center of the pitch). Right now, it is permitted to score directly from this free pass. This means no problems with distances, no problem with positions. No extra lines!
If there is an infringement /foul committed by a defensive player, the offensive team is awarded a free pass. When a violation is made against an attacker, the same attacker must take the free pass. So every attacker should be ready to take the free pass, not only the specialists!

  1. Dear korfball friends:
The development of playing skills and tactics often goes ahead of the development of playing rule. We should admire the intelligence of coaches and the players' matery in free pass(FP) in terms of the current playing rules. It may be right to try decreasing the percentage of goal from FP. But I am not optimistic regarding "the same attacker must take the free throw (I suppose "free throw" is FP but not penalty shot)". Two reasons, 1. defensive teams will not hestiate to make physical fouls on those attackers who are not mastering FP, which may interrupt the flow of match playing; 2. all eight players of each team can be specialists of free passes from 2.50m. After several months' training the result in the new situation will remain the same as nowadays.

For me: I dislike the development, but I will use this as a strong wapen to win matches as long as it is allowed.
